Rainy season continues; Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent) falls in this month — some rural areas mark it quietly, and it's traditionally a time when many young Thai men enter the monkhood.

Asalha Bucha Day and Khao Phansa, the start of Buddhist Lent, usually fall in July on consecutive days, and both carry a nationwide ban on alcohol sales. Two dry days in a row catches a lot of visitors out. Exact dates are set by the Thai Cabinet each year, so check the current year's holiday list before you travel.
