Weather

Current, forecast, historical, air quality and marine weather data by Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Historical data is ERA5 reanalysis and does not change once fetched; other figures are refreshed periodically (see each page for its "Last updated" time).

Live weather — current conditions, forecast, air quality and sea conditions — comes from Open-Meteo's commercial API, since this site shows ads. Historical data is not fetched per visit: three years of daily records for Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai are stored with the site and served from there.

Climate for the other places (month-by-month averages on their weather pages) comes from the Thai Meteorological Department's official Climatological Data of Thailand for the Period 1991–2020— 30-year averages measured at its weather stations. Each page names the station it uses and how far it is from the place; places without an official station within reach are not listed.

Past years, day by day, for the other places ("Weather on your dates") come from Copernicus ERA5-Land(cloud cover from ERA5), downloaded from the Copernicus Climate Data Store: generated using Copernicus Climate Change Service information; contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use of it. This is model data, not station measurement: by day it usually reads 1–3 °C cooler than a weather station, and more in the mountains, where a 0.1° grid cell (about 11 km) averages over the hills. Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Kood are too small for that grid, so they are not offered.

Currency

Exchange rates come from Frankfurter, a free API aggregating official rates from central banks and other official sources worldwide, refreshed once a day. Rates at a currency exchange or bank will differ from these.

Cost of living

There is no free official API for Thai retail prices — unlike exchange rates, granular price baskets are commercial products. The figures in the calculator are compiled by the site owner and carry the date they were entered rather than a link, so treat them as a starting point for a budget and not as a published price index. A few items — rentals, accommodation, insurance, pharmacy, trips and flights — are left for you to fill in, marked "Yours to set". Every item can be overridden with your own number, which is what the calculator is really for.

Immigration and visas

Visa pages are built only from Thai government publications — chiefly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Immigration Bureau, the official e-Visa system and, for the LTR visa, the Board of Investment. This is enforced rather than merely intended: the content rules reject any source on a visa card that is not a Thai government domain, so a page citing a blog, an agency or a news site will not build.

Each section of each visa page shows its own source link and the date it was last checked, because the parts decay at different speeds. Where secondary reporting has contradicted the ministry — and on the September 2026 exemption change it did, widely — the ministry document wins and the discrepancy is noted in the changes log.

Real estate

Ownership rules are sourced to Thai government publications. Market figures and price comparisons come from named Thai press and industry reporting, cited on the page they appear on, with the date attached — there is no free official price index for Thai property, and commercial ones are not licensed for republication here.

Events and tickets

Concert and festival listings are taken from the official seller's own page — Thai Ticket Major, Eventpop, Ticketmelon, AllTicket — and every listing links to it. Prices are quoted as the seller prints them, including where the seller publishes no price at all. Annual festival dates follow the lunar calendar and are only shown once an organiser, a province or the Thai Cabinet has announced them; where sources disagree, the entry says the date is not confirmed rather than picking one.

News

Every news item lists the sources it was written from. Claims are checked against the article they are attributed to, not against a summary of it.
