Chon Buri Condo Sales Jump 74.5% as EEC Housing Market Shows Its First Broad Recovery Signs
The Eastern Economic Corridor’s residential market is showing its first signs of broad recovery in over a year, according to the Real Estate Information Center. After four consecutive quarters of contraction, the second quarter of 2026 brought an improved monthly absorption rate of 2.3%, up from 1.8%, alongside new sales rising 23.2% year-on-year to 4,491 units and unsold inventory falling 5.3% to 61,945 units. REIC’s data points to Chon Buri province — anchored by Pattaya — as the clear driver of that turnaround, rather than the recovery being spread evenly across the EEC’s three provinces.
SET-listed developer Origin Property’s own figures give a more granular read on what’s behind that Chon Buri strength: condo sales in the province jumped 74.5% year-on-year in the second quarter, with student-related purchases cited as a key driver of that surge. By the third quarter, Origin’s data shows the demand mix shifting again, this time toward industrial workers.
The recovery is still a Chon Buri story specifically rather than an EEC-wide one. REIC’s own framing credits the province with leading the turnaround, which implies Rayong and Chachoengsao are not yet showing the same momentum. That concentration is worth keeping in mind before reading this as evidence the wider Eastern Economic Corridor housing slump has ended — for now, the numbers say Chon Buri’s condo segment has found new buyers faster than its neighboring provinces have.
