Bank of Thailand Sets 2027 Holiday Calendar: Eight Long Weekends to Plan Around
The Bank of Thailand has issued its official calendar of 18 public holidays for financial institutions in 2027. The notice was published in the Royal Gazette on 25 August 2026, setting out the dates banks and other financial institutions will close through the year.
Of those 18 days, eight fall as part of a stretch of three or more consecutive days off — useful to know both for anyone who needs to visit a Thai bank branch and for planning travel around them. The eight long weekends are: 1–3 January (New Year), 20–22 February (Makha Bucha), 1–4 May (Labour Day and Coronation Day), 17–19 July (Asalha Bucha), 23–25 October (Chulalongkorn Day), 4–6 December, 10–12 December (Constitution Day), and 31 December–2 January 2028 (New Year’s Eve).
The longest break is the four days around Labour Day and Coronation Day in May. Songkran (13–15 April) falls in the middle of the week in 2027, so despite still being a three-day holiday for banks, it will not join a weekend and won’t form the extended break it sometimes does in other years.
The calendar covers banks and financial institutions rather than every government office, though the two generally overlap closely. Travellers and anyone with business at a Thai bank should expect closures on these dates throughout 2027.
