Airport Rail Link to Change Operator in February 2027
Cities:Bangkok
Travellers using the Airport Rail Link between Suvarnabhumi Airport and central Bangkok will see a change of operator early next year. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has signed a temporary memorandum of understanding keeping current operator Asia Era One in charge of the line from October 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027.
From February 1, 2027, SRT Electrified Train Co (SRTET), an SRT subsidiary that has run the line before, takes over permanently. Thailand’s transport minister has described this as a firm deadline, with no further extensions on the table.
For riders, day-to-day service is expected to continue much as before: SRTET plans to operate the line the same way during the handover, and staff currently employed on the line will be offered a voluntary transfer, with SRTET recruiting and training replacements for any roles that go unfilled.
