Vietjet Thailand Opens Daily Bangkok–Kuala Lumpur Route

Cities:Bangkok

Thai Vietjet Air launched a new daily service between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport on October 9, 2026, its first direct route to Malaysia. The inaugural flight, VZ681, carried 171 passengers out of Kuala Lumpur, a roughly 90% load factor, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand marked the arrival with a welcome event at Suvarnabhumi.

The route runs on a Boeing 737-8 with 189 seats. VZ681 leaves Kuala Lumpur at 15:15 and lands in Bangkok at 16:30; the return leg, VZ680, departs Bangkok at 11:00 and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 14:10. Promotional fares, on sale since June, cover travel through March 27, 2027, giving travellers on one of Southeast Asia’s busiest city pairs another direct, budget option alongside the existing full-service and low-cost carriers already flying it.

TAT and Thai Vietjet Air are also running a familiarisation trip for Malaysian travel agents from October 12-16 to promote the new link, a sign both the airline and the tourism authority expect the route to stick around rather than being a one-season experiment.
