All 76 Provinces on Flood Alert Through the Weekend

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has warned all 76 provinces, including Bangkok, to prepare for very heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, and rough seas from September 16 through September 20, following a heavy-rainfall alert from the Meteorological Department. The storm system is moving from the north and northeast toward the central plains and then east and south, with Bangkok’s flood-prone and poorly-draining urban areas flagged as particular risk zones. Six southern provinces, including Phuket, are also under a separate warning for strong winds and waves reaching two to three metres, and potentially higher near thunderstorms.
