About this month
High season (nationwide generalization)
Peak cool, dry season nationwide and the busiest, most expensive month to visit most of the country — book well ahead for accommodation and flights.
December 5 (the late King Bhumibol's birthday) is a public holiday and is widely reported as a nationwide alcohol-sales-ban day, though we have not been able to confirm that against an official source. Bars and restaurants may stop serving; shops may not sell. Plan around it rather than being caught out.
