Thai AirAsia Returns to Suvarnabhumi October 1, Adds Direct Phuket–Isaan Routes
Earlier in 2026, a spike in jet fuel costs pushed Thai AirAsia to trim its schedule sharply, including a temporary suspension of a number of routes out of Suvarnabhumi Airport. That pullback is now reversing: starting October 1, the airline resumes domestic service from Suvarnabhumi with six daily flights to Chiang Mai, five daily flights to Phuket, and two daily flights to Krabi, as part of a broader build-up in capacity for the year-end high season that the airline says could reach up to 135 domestic flights a day between October and December.
A second change is aimed at travellers who don’t want to route through Bangkok at all. From October 25, Thai AirAsia is adding direct links between Phuket and Thailand’s northeast: up to three flights a week between Phuket and Khon Kaen, and up to four a week between Phuket and Udon Thani. For anyone splitting a trip between the southern beaches and Isaan, or living in one region and travelling to visit the other, these are the first direct connections on that corridor rather than a connection through the capital.
The airline expects domestic demand to stay strong through the high season and into early 2027, helped along by tourism-stimulus measures the Tourism Authority of Thailand has planned for the same period — though as with any airline schedule, it’s worth double-checking specific flights closer to your travel date given how quickly this network has shifted over the course of the year.
