Thailand's 2027 Bank Holiday Calendar Sets Eight Long Weekends

The Bank of Thailand has published its 2027 calendar of nationwide financial-institution holidays, listing 18 holidays across the year that combine with weekends to create eight separate long weekends — useful to know now for anyone in Thailand planning time off, flights or hotel bookings well ahead of the year.

The longest break of the year runs four days, from Saturday, May 1 to Tuesday, May 4, joining the weekend to the substitute holiday for Labour Day and Coronation Day. Songkran itself falls midweek in 2027, with banks closed Tuesday to Thursday, April 13-15, so it does not extend into a weekend on its own. Other confirmed dates include New Year’s Day on Friday, January 1; a substitute holiday for Makha Bucha on Monday, February 22 (the observance itself falls on Sunday, February 21); Chakri Memorial Day on Tuesday, April 6; a substitute holiday on Monday, October 25 for Chulalongkorn Day (Saturday, October 23); Constitution Day on Thursday, December 10; and a substitute holiday on Monday, December 6 for December 5, which falls on a Sunday. The year closes with a three-day New Year period spanning December 31, 2027 to January 2, 2028.

The Islamic Bank of Thailand additionally closes for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha on dates to be confirmed by the Sheikhul Islam Office, on top of the nationwide list above. Bank holidays are also observed by most government offices, though private employers and shops generally stay open.
