Thailand's Power Bank Rules for Flights: What's Allowed
On June 4, 2026, Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT) issued Regulation No. 122 on carrying power banks aboard flights. It is the standing rule for anyone flying in or out of Thailand, not a temporary measure. Each passenger may carry no more than two power banks. The standard limit is 100 Wh (about 20,000 mAh); a power bank between 100 and 160 Wh needs the airline’s approval before travel. Power banks go in carry-on luggage only — they are strictly prohibited in checked bags — and must not be stowed in the overhead compartment; keep them within reach, such as in the seat pocket. During the flight you may not charge a power bank from any power source on the aircraft, nor use one to charge a phone or other device. Airlines can apply stricter limits of their own, so check your airline’s rules too.
