The second weekend of May. Villages build rockets from bamboo and gunpowder to remind the rain god Phaya Thaen of the promise he made long ago — that he would water the fields. The higher it flies, the better the harvest. People in toad masks walk in the parade, because according to legend it was the Toad King who forced the rain to return.
